About

I am a PhD student in the sociology department at Duke University. My dissertation research is about income inequality in the United States and its cultural consequences. When I'm not working on my dissertation, I enjoy compiling and analyzing data on some facet of American culture. I am also a big fan of the R programming language, the Tidyverse, and everything at the intersection of R and data science. Sometimes, I make Shiny apps and R packages. I started this blog to share these side projects with the world. If you have questions about any of the content posted here, you can reach me at andrew.carr@duke.edu.

Here's a picture of me, my lovely girlfriend Sara, and our dog Poppy.
